DOU YOU WANT TO OFFSET YOUR CO2 EMISSIONS?

Our customers can offset CO2 emissions
All customers shall be offered the possibility of CO2 offsetting their journey with us. On the website mentioned above, passengers can enter their journey and a calculator computes the distance and CO2 contribution. An average one-way journey Scandinavia/Europe for one person will cause an average CO2 emission of approx. 300 kilos. The passenger’s price will be around 6 €.

How CO2 compensation works
The amount paid by passengers in compensation is invested in projects for renewable energy in other countries. This amount also corresponds to a reduction in the CO2 emissions caused by the passenger’s flight or air transport. A common feature of all of these projects is that they have generated a documented reduction in carbon-dioxide emissions and that such reductions have been verified by an independent auditor.

Projects reducing CO2
All the projects chosen to ensure the promised reduction of CO2 are renewable energy projects established in countries where CO2 reductions are far less expensive than in Europe. It is of no consequence for the global CO2 emissions where the reduction takes place.

How payment is made
The SAS Group has chosen The CarbonNeutral Company in London to administer all payment transactions. Accordingly, SAS will not have any knowledge of individual choices to pay or not pay CO2 compensation. The CarbonNeutral Company’s independent third-party auditor is KPMG. The CarbonNeutral Company is one of the most experienced suppliers of carbon-dioxide reduction projects and sustainable development activities for many well-known major customers.

Major customers, charter and cargo
The SAS Group’s major customers and partners can offset carbon-dioxide emission through the previously established channels or through direct contact with The CarbonNeutral Company via its website.

CO2 compensation as part of the sustainability work
The SAS Group sees the voluntary CO2 compensation as part of the sustainability work. This includes the development of more environment friendly technology in cooperation with manufacturers and scientists, our own action programmes aimed at reducing fuel consumption and so-called ”green approaches” as well as among other things the effort to create infrastructural improvement through a common air traffic control system in Europe.
