Santiago de Compostela was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO thanks to its multicultural character and for being the finishing city in the very old  pilgrimage route: the Way of St. James (el Camino de Santiago), which from the IX century transformed the place Finisterre (end of the earth) to a meeting point for faith and and an occidental view of the world.

Santiago de Compostela has a spectacular appearance with stone buildings between the green forests in the Spanish northwest and the nearness to the Galician rivers. In this scenery the cultural manifestations break out – from the popular festivities to the yearly music festivals, cinema and theatre, permanent and temporary expositions - from the hands of public and private initiative led by the five hundred years old Santiago University, which assembly halls add 30 thousands students to a city with a settlement of 100 thousands.
