How can I view my boarding card?

Once you have checked in through spanair.com and have chosen “Mobile Boarding Card”, you will be sent an MMS message. In your inbox you will receive a notification that you have received a message from spanair.com.

Open the message and your boarding card will appear on the screen as a bidimensional code and a text with your boarding card details. Once in the airport terminal, you only have to scan your code into a reader located beside the Express Check-in machines*. You will receive a paper print-out, allowing you to pass through security x-ray and board.

* Important: At Barcelona airport (T1) a new system has been implemented, so you do not have to print out the paper receipt. Therefore all the passengers in T1 can pass directly through the security control with their mobile.

How do I receive my boarding card?

Spanair boarding cards will be directly sent to your mobile phone by means of an MMS message.

My mobile phone is personal but I have not received the message. What should I do?

If your mobile phone is not a company contract phone and you have not received the MMS with your boarding card it may be due to several reasons. We offer you some possible reasons and how to solve the problem. The first thing to check is if your mobile phone is able to accept an MMS message. When you purchase a mobile telephone from a mobile operator, it is configured to receive MMS messages. If this configuration does not work or it is not configured, you have two options:

- Contact you mobile phone operator and follow the instructions you are given to configure your handset. Your operator will send you a configuration message and your terminal will be ready to receive MMS messages. If you are a Vodafone customer, you can activate the MMS option through one of the following ways:

- Call 123, the free customer service number. Here they will inform you if your phone is able to receive multimedia messages and, if it is not activated, they can automatically activate it for you.

- Vodafone users can also activate the MMS service online. Here you normally get both the MMS activation and a demonstration video explaining how to read an MMS message.

- If your operator is not Vodafone or if you have purchased an unlocked phone, you will have to configure it following your operator's instructions. You can also do it manually but this option is the least recommended for those who do not feel comfortable configuring handsets. Your operator will provide you with the steps to follow.

My mobile telephone is a company contract phone, what should I take into consideration?

If your mobile phone is a company phone, consider the following points:

A. Your mobile phone must have the MMS reception option activated with the operator so that the service works correctly. If it is not activated, instead of receiving a message with your boarding card, you will receive a text with a link to enable you to view the code. In this case, you must contact those responsible for your company mobile in order to activate the service.

B. Once your mobile has been activated to receive MMS messages, ensure that the handset is configured for receiving MMS messages. If your handset is not configured to receive the MMS, you will receive a link. In this case, you must contact those responsible for your company mobile in order to solve the problem.

C. If you have the MMS service activated and you still receive a text message with a link, it may be that your mobile phone cannot receive multimedia messages and you cannot use this service. To check whether your mobile phone can receive MMS, contact your operator.

What is a bidimensional code?

In the message you receive, you will see a square with a series of black dots. This is the bidimensional code which includes the boarding card data. This image is what the Spanair readers recognise as the boarding card.

What is an MMS message?

MMS is a messaging standard that allows you to receive a multimedia message with images, videos and sound.

When I receive an MMS message, I only see the link to download the image from the internet

If you have checked the necessary steps to activate the service for company contract phones or the possible reasons for not being able to receive MMS and your mobile phone is still not able to receive multimedia messages? Then your handset is not capable of receiving an MMS message and you cannot use this service. Please use a different check-in method.

Where are my flight details, such as the destination or the seat?

The MMS message you are sent will include both the BIDI code (image) and text with all the necessary data that can be found in the paper boarding card, such as the destination, seat and booking code.

Where do I find the special MMS readers at the airports?

Once at the airport you only have to scan the bidimensional code (in the MMS) in the special reader, that will print a paper receipt. With this receipt you can pass the security control and board your flight.

You will find the special readers at the exclusive Check-in desks for Mobile Boarding Card and they are situated adjacent the Express Check-in machines at the following airports:

Madrid T2: Desk 541
Barcelona T1*:  Desk 501
Bilbao: Desk 28
