Am I entitled to the resident discount if I travel abroad?
No. According to the law, the resident discount only applies to domestic routes. The discount is not applicable to domestic flights with a final destination outside of Spain.
How can I benefit from the discount for residents of Ceuta and Melilla?
Ceuta residents: Residents of Ceuta are entitled to the discount on direct routes departing from or landing in Ceuta, which can only be obtained at Malaga, Jerez or Seville airports. The discount for Ceuta residents is not applied automatically at spanair.com. To take advantage of this discount, please contact Spanair Center at (+34) 902 13 14 15 before booking.
Melilla residents: The discount for Melilla residents is only applied to flights departing from or landing in Melilla. As Spanair does not fly to Melilla, this discount is not applicable.
How can I see the amount that is discounted?
The discount is applied right from the first step of the booking process. You will see the original price next to the discounted price. Please note that the resident discount is not applied to charges. Consequently, the percentage of the discount is not 50% of the total price.
If my DNI card is being renewed, is the receipt valid?
No, according to the law, the receipt is not valid to prove your entitlement to a resident discount.
Is the discount also applied to flights with a stop-over?
Unlike other companies, Spanair applies the resident discount to flights with stop-overs.
What is the resident discount and who does it apply to?
Royal Decree 1340/2007 regarding residents, states that a 50% resident discount will be applied to flights with origin/destination in the Balearic Islands or Canary Islands (domestic flights within Spain only). These discounts are applicable to Spanish citizens and other member states of the European Union and the European Economic Area who can prove their status as residents of the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.
A new system was established under Royal Decree 240/2007 in which the foreign residents’ ID card (NIE) has been replaced as proof of Spanish residency for citizens of European Union member states by a Registration Certificate issued by the Central Registry Office for Foreigners.

Important
1. All passengers included in the same booking must be entitled to the resident discount. Any non-resident passengers must book separately.
2. If the DNI card does not bear the correct registered residence address on the Balearic or Canary Islands the registration number of the residence certificate must be included. This also applies for children who do not have their own individual means of identification.
3. Passengers must provide the proof of residence specified during the booking process when collecting their ticket, checking in and boarding. Passengers with issued tickets who cannot provide proof of residence will not be allowed to fly with the discounted ticket and must purchase another with the fare available at that time. The price of the original ticket will be refunded, depending on whether this is allowed by the class conditions. Please see your travel agent, visit one of our sales offices or contact Spanair Center to arrange any refunds.
NB: Service fees are not refundable.
4. Residents will also benefit from a 50% discount for ticket issuing fees. This discount will be seen during the booking process (except when booking with Spanair Plus points). If you choose to collect your ticket at a travel agency, the agency is free to set its own service fees for issuing tickets booked and purchased through spanair.com.
5. The resident discount cannot be applied after the flight.
6. If the Residence Certificate expires between the date of booking and the flight’s departure, you must contact Spanair Center to inform us of the new certificate registration number, otherwise the resident discount cannot be applied.
Where do I indicate that I am entitled to the resident discount?
Click on the “Balearic Is. resident” or “Canary Is. resident” option that appears when you select the Balearic or Canary Islands as origin/destination (domestic flights within Spain only) in the search engine. In step 2 of the booking process, when you enter your personal details, you must introduce information justifying that you are entitled to the discount. Please note that this information will be checked when you check-in and board. If it is not correct, you will not be able to use your ticket.
