Spanair increases its flight offer between Ibiza and Menorca to the Spanish Mainland

In 2008, Spanair will continue operating the routes connecting the two islands with Madrid and Barcelona and increase the number of flights

Madrid, January 23, 2008.- The company reaffirms its commitment to the Balearic archipelago, by operating four routes between the islands and the Peninsula during 2008; linking Ibiza and Menorca with Madrid and Barcelona.

More flights
With the aim of meeting passenger needs, Spanair will increase flights to and from Ibiza by 13%, and those of the Ibiza-Madrid and Ibiza-Barcelona routes by 20% and 6% respectively.

Flights to Menorca will increase by 8%, and on the Menorca-Madrid and Menorca-Barcelona routes by 15% and 4% respectively.

More passengers
In this way, the company forecasts an increase in passenger numbers of more than 20% between Ibiza and Madrid and Barcelona, and 14% between Menorca and the two capitals.

“Our firm commitment to the Balearic Islands as one of our priority destinations means that every year we try harder to provide our passengers with the best product, maximum flexibility and the greatest comfort in terms of flights, timetabling and connections”, stated Marcus Hedblom, Spanair’s CEO. “In view of this, in 2008 we will increase our flight offer on those routes linking Ibiza and Menorca with Madrid and Barcelona, thereby meeting the demands of both business and holiday passengers; and we will also strengthen the routes for the summer season”, he added.

In addition, passengers flying from Ibiza or Menorca who are entitled to a discount as residents in the Balearic Community will continue to be able to benefit from said discounts on domestic flights, even where the travel itinerary involves a stopover.

Punctuality Guarantee
As is the case with our complete domestic flight network, passengers flying these routes will benefit from the advantages provided by our renewed Punctuality Guarantee. They will also enjoy the traditional high levels of service offered to Spanair customers, both at the airport and on board.

Connection possibilities
The large number of flight frequencies on these routes allows for a wide range of connection possibilities via Madrid or Barcelona, using Spanair’s extensive domestic and international network, as well as with inter-continental destinations via the Star Alliance member carriers. For the aforementioned connections, passengers may check-in their luggage directly for their final destination, without the need to check-in again at the airport where they catch their connecting flight. Spanair does not charge a luggage check-in fee.

Spanair was founded in 1986 and offers more than 600 daily flights operated with a fleet of 63 aircraft and in code share with its partners, to 241 destinations. Since April 2003, Spanair is a member of Star Alliance, the largest and most prestigious airline network in the world.
